Dr Who nominated for top TV award

Dr Who stars Freema Agyeman and David Tennant

The Time Lord could be carrying a few more awards in his tardis after being nominated for three prizes at this year's National TV Awards.

Dr Who is up for best popular drama, and its stars David Tennant and Freema Agyeman are nominated for best actor and actress.

But the programme faces stiff competition from police soap The Bill.

The winners will be chosen by the public and announced at the ceremony on 31 October.

Freema, who played Doctor Who's assistant, is up against Eastenders stars Kara Tointon, who plays Dawn Swann, and Lacey Turner who plays Stacey Slater.

Your fave Saturday night shows will be battling it out in a new category this year - most popular talent show. The X Factor, Any Dream Will Do, Dancing on Ice and Strictly Come Dancing will all be hoping to win over the public.

And who will be crowned king of the soap? Eastenders won last year but will Hollyoaks, Coronation Street or Emmerdale take the title this time?
