JK Rowling is keeping busy after finishing the Harry Potter books by adopting a rescue greyhound.
Staff at the Scottish rescue centre had no idea who JK was when she went along with her family to pick out a pooch pal for their Jack Russell terrier, Butch.
Owner Celia Fernie only realised when JK signed a £1,000 cheque - £950 more than the home ask for - to adopt a four-year-old dog, called Sapphire.
Celia said: "I apologised and said 'I'm sorry, I didn't realise who you were!'"
She added: "She was very pleasant and down to earth, a real doggy person."
Like most greyhounds, Sapphire loves taking it easy and relax
Most kids would know who JK was the minute they saw her, but Celia wasn't so sure. And even when she did realise, that didn't stop her putting JK through all the same tests as everyone else before she was allowed to take Sapphire home.
She had to prove she had enough room at home and Butch had to meet Sapphire to make sure they got on with each other.
Celia, who has rehomed 200 dogs since she opened two years ago, said: "She walked Sapphire up and down the driveway, with Butch and her family.
"They were marvellous with my dog and we thought 'This is just splendid'. They were just absolutely perfect, as a caring family should be."
