Man United suffer shock cup loss

Manchester United have been dumped out of the Carling Cup after losing 2-0 at home to Coventry City.

Michael Mifsud scored both goals for the Championship side, delighting 11,000 of their fans at the match.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson picked 11 different players from the side that beat Chelsea on Sunday, but there were still six internationals in the team.

Chelsea cruised to a 4-0 win against Hull City, giving new manager Avram Grant a first win since taking charge.

Scott Sinclair, Steve Sidwell and Saloman Kalou - with two goals - completed the scoring for the Premier League side.

Aston Villa were also knocked out by lower league opposition, going down 1-0 at home when Matty Fryatt grabbed the winner.

Tottenham gave their fans something to cheer about with a 2-0 win against Premier League opponents Middlesbrough.

Gareth Bale and Tom Huddlestone were on target for Spurs, both grabbing goals in four second-half minutes.
