Owen will miss two England games

Michael Owen

England will be without striker Michael Owen for two very important Euro 2008 qualifiers in October.

Owen has picked up an injury in a match for Newcastle and won't be able to play again for at least three weeks.

England play Estonia on 13 October and Russia four days later as they try to qualify for the European Championship in 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

Owen may be unable to play for even longer if doctors decide he needs an operation on a separate injury.

If he does need an operation Owen may be out of action for as long as two months.

Owen got a bad injury at the World Cup in 2006 and missed most of last season because of it.

He has scored five time since returning to action, including three times for England in this month's Euro 2008 qualifying victories over Israel and Russia.

England are already without Emile Heskey for their next two matches, as he is also injured.
