Blue Peter has said sorry on-air after asking you to pick a name for a new pet but ignoring the results of your vote.

Last year, viewers were introduced to a kitten and kids were asked to choose his name by voting for their fave from a list of choices on the BP website.

The cat was called Socks, but it should have been called Cookie as that was the name that got the most votes.

Blue Peter presenters apologised at the start of the new series and introduced a new kitten called Cookie to the show.

Last week, Blue Peter bosses apologised and said the name Socks had been your second choice.

They said: "Part of the production team working on the programme at the time decided that it would be better to choose Socks, as this suited the kitten better.

"This was wrong because we had said that it was your vote that would decide."
