Press Pack Reports

My hobby isn't just for grannies

A person knitting

Press Packer Jordan really likes knitting clothes and blankets.

He reckons that more children should have a go at it - not just old people.

Read his report.

"Most people think that knitting is a hobby just for old grannies. Anyone who thinks that way is guilty of groupism and should make their own opinions. Well - I think differently.

I think knitting is not only fun, but really addictive and a useful skill to have in life.

Expensive clothes

The reason I think this is because a lot of people don't realise how expensive clothes are. If you take a minute to think about it your wardrobe is probably one of the most expensive things that you own.

How can the homeless afford a simple T-shirt when they are priced so highly?

Value

At the moment I am knitting a blanket for my future baby brother.

To make the blanket I spent 2.50 for 244 metres of wool. To buy a tiny blanket from a local shop would have cost me nearly 6. It was considerably cheaper to make it myself.

I don't understand why nobody spends their money on 244 metres of wool which will last at least a year and a half.

Instead children would rather spend their money on sweets that will rot their teeth and only last for 10 minutes.

I see myself as a boy who knows how to spend his money wisely. My advice to other children is that they should try to knit so that they can realise how much fun it is."
