We asked pupils at the Thomas Deacon Academy what they thought about not having a playground. Daniel, 11, said: "If I had a choice I would have a break and a playground and then I'd go out more and it'd be better than staying inside all day."
Luke, 11, thinks it would be easier to concentrate if they had more fresh air: "We're not allowed outside and it gets really stuffy so I think it would be better if we had a playground and a break so our lessons would be easier."
But Chloe, 11, likes being able to stay inside: "I think it's a good idea not to have a playground because there's less chance of being bullied and I like it like that."
The school's only been open a couple of weeks but some pupils are already hoping they might get a playground in the future. James, 11, said: "I would like a playground because you make friends more easily and you can play football."
Carrie-Ann, 11, could see both sides of the argument: "When you come in you won't get on with your work because you'll be too interested in what happened at break, but sometimes it's bad because you need fresh air as it gets quite stuffy."
