Press Packer Sukhpaal is a big fan of author Roald Dahl, who died nearly 20 years ago.

For his report he went to a special event at a theatre in Birmingham, to mark Roald Dahl Day on 13 September.

"A taxi came to take us to The Crescent Theatre in Birmingham, where loads of school kids were heading for Roald Dahl day.

Roald Dahl's son Theo and daughter Tessa came from America to be at the theatre to talk about their dad's life.

Before we went in, I met Michael Rosen, who is the current Children's Laureate.

I asked him about meeting Roald Dahl.

He said he had met him three times, the first just after Roald Dahl had finished writing The Twits.

Michael Rosen's son was there at the time, and Dahl started asking him questions about his dad's beard.

Roald Dahl told him that he thought there would be lots of food stuck in the beard, just like in The Twits.

Choco-holic!

Michael Rosen said he couldn't tell me who the best author ever was, because everyone likes something different.

After that we went into the theatre, where Theo and Tessa explained about Roald Dahl's life. They said he used to like chocolate a lot, and would often come up with new story ideas.

Sometimes he stored an idea for six months before he was ready to use it.

Funniest

We were in the theatre for about two hours. It was really interesting and I didn't get bored.

Afterwards I got to meet Theo and Tessa.

I asked Theo if he had ever thought about writing sequels to Roald Dahl's books.

He said he hadn't. I asked which book was the funniest too, and he said none of them! Instead he said they were all humorous.

I asked Tessa if she'd ever thought about writing sequels too.

She said she hadn't been asked that before, and added that she couldn't write sequels. She said she couldn't compete with her father and that her style of writing is completely different.

She said she thought the Magic Finger was the funniest of Roald Dahl's books. She said she didn't like the idea of animals being killed and liked them getting their own back on the people hunting them."
