Tim Henman was booted out of the US Open - and said it's confirmed his decision to retire.
The 32-year-old's last Grand Slam ended in a four-set defeat to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 22.
"It's probably a reflection of why I'm retiring from the game," he said. "He's a classic modern player and it's become harder and harder for me to compete."
The British number two has said he will reitre after the Davis Cup tie at Wimbledon which begins on 22 September.
Meanwhile Andy Murray hopes to get through to the fourth round of the US Open for the second year running when he takes on Korean Hyung-Taik Lee on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Briton meets the world number 43 from around 2000 BST.
