In pictures: The Simpsons Movie world premiere

The world premiere of The Simpsons Movie has taken place in a real-life town of Springfield in the US state of Vermont.

And here are the stars of the film - sort of - arriving on board a special plane. Look out, Maggie!

Around 2,000 people waited in the town square to see the yellow carpet, after their town won a contest to host the premiere.

This is who they were waiting to see - foam versions of the animated characters.

Maybe you think Simpsons characters are better when they're drawn and flat...

There are only 212 seats inside the cinema in Springfield, Vermont. Tickets for the premiere were hard to get.

This fan decided to get a Homer Simpson tattoo. He might regret it when he gets older. Doh!
