"I thought it was a fantastic way to end it! By the time I only had 50 pages to go, I was so upset that it was almost over, I almost cried! Then Harry heard he would have to die and I did cry! Then when he lived, I cried again! I couldn't believe how emotional I felt about it! The 19-Years-Later bit at the end was fab too, it means no one can write an in-between bit! It's a shame the books are finished but I'm definitely going to re-read them all!"
Lisa, 12, Edinburgh
"That was the best book by far. My mum read the book after me and she guessed the whole plot correctly before the 5th chapter."
Kate, 11, Hertfordshire
"The best book in the series! I laughed in so many places and when I'd finished reading, I cried. It hit me that I am never going to see Harry, Ron and Hermione again. It does sound silly because they're not really real but if you've grown up with those three like I have you'd understand the feeling. They're like my best friends and I'll never forget them."
Stephanie, 13, France
"The 19-years-later chapter was pretty clever but on the whole I think the book was too fast-paced. You hardly had time to get one bit of information into your brain before the next came out! Not exactly the best in the series."
Akane, 11, Tokyo
"I can't think of a single bad point! The epilogue was really great idea. I expected a dramatic death right at the end, like in the 5th and 6th, but instead there were lots of deaths throughout the book. I particularly loved the parts where mysteries are solved. Harry is related to Voldemort!"
Izzy, 9, Haverhill
"I thought the book was amazing!!!!! I cried, laughed and was absolutely gutted that it was the last book!! Best book that I have ever read !!!!!"
Sophie, 11, Rayleigh
"This book is absolutely amazing. No word can describe it. There are twists in every chapter and so many surprises on each page. There are so many unexpected deaths and my favourite chapters are The Flaw In The Plan and Nineteen Years Later. JK Rowling has managed to write a book I think should go down in history. Well done!"
Antonia, 12, Birmingham
"A wonderful book, the best I've ever read. I loved the happy ending."
Farahnaz, 12, Manchester, England
"The book made me want to cry at times, and it held so many surprises. I thought the epilogue was a great idea, although I wanted to find out what happened to Luna! Finally Ron and Hermione got together! I wish that had happened in the sixth book, because they are so perfect! Altogether, it was amazing."
Katie, 12, London
"This is the best Harry Potter book in Harry Potter history. I love it so much and I wish JK would write more. Long live Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!"
Valentina, 10, Malaga
"The '19 years later' thing was really good because it explained what became of Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione. I can't believe that Harry married Ginny and Ron married Hermione! Great info JK. You rock!"
Georgia, 10, Tamworth
"This was the best book by far. I finished it on Saturday (the day it came out). I felt sorry for a lot of the characters. The ones I felt sorry for were George 'cause Fred died, Harry 'cause Hedwig and Dobby died and Teddy Lupin 'cause he's in the same situation as Harry was - an orphan. The epilogue was a nice finishing touch. Harry's kids James, Albus and Lily were a nice surprise. The thing that made me happiest was when Ron and Hermione got together. J.K should do more books on Potter. She should tell us more about his 19 years later life and about Teddy Lupin. Victoire is Bill and Fleur's child as the name's French!"
Summer, 11, Wolverhampton, England
"It's amazing! I read it in two days, I loved it so much. I cried at the end because it's so sad, but when Harry has kids it's so sweet! I'm sad to see then end of a genuinely FANTASTIC series of books!"
Emily, 12, Warrington
"This is the best book ever! I could not put it down. The ending was amazing. I read it in less than two days."
Saggy, 12
"I thought the 19 years later chapter was really boring and wasn't needed. I felt sorry for Snape because he died after losing the only thing that was dear to him in his life - Lily Evans."
Natalie, 12, Halifax
"I thought the "19 years later" epilogue was a clever idea. The only problem is it makes me want to read even more Harry Potter! Nice one, JK - you've amazed me again."
Emi, 13, Manchester
"Absolutely brilliant! More dark and sinister than the other books in general though. I was so sad when Snape, Lupin, Tonks, George and Hedwig died. I cried each time. The whole plot was great though. I'm just sad because so many characters died and because it's the end of the series. Three cheers for the best Harry Potter book ever!"
Jessica, 12, Guyana
"During the weekend I spent most of my time up in my bedroom reading the book. I just couldn't put it down! I was very sad when I had found out that Fred, Lupin and Tonks died. Poor Teddy Lupin! The ending was great - the 19 years later bit finished the book off perfectly. I'm just really sad because there aren't any books left."
Olivia, 10, Southend-on-Sea
"It was really sad but really, really good too. I felt sorry for Snape, Dobby, Hedwig and many others. So many people died!"
Catriona, 12, Perth
"It's the best book of the set. I feel sorry for Hedwig and George and I can't believe Fred died. I have read it twice now and am planning to read it again now."
Lynsey, 13, Leeds
"I thought it was amazing! I cried and laughed, it was almost too good for words. I would actually much rather hear about Harry's parents and Snape and the others when they were at Hogwarts than Harry's kids because Harry being an adult is just so sad."
Liv, 13, USA
"It was such a great book. I too hope she does another book focusing on Teddy Lupin 'cause he is Harry's godson. Let him explain living with Harry. That would be so cool."
Kenz, 13
"It was fantastic! I thought that the plot all fits together but I can't believe the amount of people that die! Anyway, I would recommend everyone reads it."
Rachel, 13, London
"It's brilliant! I felt really sorry for Teddy Lupin because he is now in exactly the same position as Harry was when he was his age. My friends and I thought there should be another series focusing on Teddy! I've now read it twice because there were some things I didn't really understand first time round. It was even better the second time!"
Bethan, 13, Cambridge
"I really loved the book - especially the end. I had guessed that Harry was a Horcrux and that Snape was good but this didn't stop me enjoying the book. I thought the ending was really sweet!"
Agnes, 11, Surrey
"I really enjoyed this last book! It kept me guessing the whole way through! I thought it was really nice to see the last chapter. Don't Harry and Ginny make the best couple ever? If ever JK wants to write another book, can she please explain what happens to Harry in those 19 years? An amazing series and an amazing ending! Just how it should be!"
Hannah, 12, Southport
"Superb book, one of the best in the series! A completely unexpected ending! Many characters died but it's still a good book. It gets really interesting at the end when the truth about Snape is revealed. The 19 years later part was sooooo sweet!"
Jackie, 13, Leeds
"JK did a fantastic job! The only part that could have been better was the epilogue, I wanted more info in it. The deaths were completely devastating, even Snape's! Who knew he loved Lily? But it was touching to learn that Harry and Ginny named a kid after him."
Juliet, 13, USA
"I loved the book and have read it five times since I got it, it was the best of the books by far! I was really sad about Dobby and Hedwig and was crying my eyes out in the bit where Harry hands himself over to die. I liked the 19 years later bit but I think it could have said some more about people's jobs and what their lives had turned out like. JK has excelled herself and given us all a fantastic book!"
Laura, 13, Guildford
"I loved it! I decided ages ago that Snape was good and had at least had a crush on Lily, though I hadn't believed it was the big L! Dobby's death was the one that upset me the most. At last, Ron and Hermione are together! Woohoo!"
Charlotte, 13, Edinburgh
"I loved the book and I couldn't put it down. I was surprised when I found out that Dumbledore's death was planned and I was glad that Voldemort died but the death wasn't how I expected it to be. I thought that there were a bit too many deaths but the rest was brilliant! I thought the 19 years later bit was good because it showed how some of the characters turned out!"
Emma, 13, Newcastle
"I love it. The plot was fantastic, it answered all the questions and I was happy with the answers, although the ending seemed a little rushed. The only thing I'm sad about is that there are no more books!"
Sam, 13, Manchester
"I love this book! It was the icing on the cake for the series. It made me cry, laugh and even gasp. I loved every minute and I am now re-reading the whole series to decide which book I like the most."
Lewis, 13
"I was a bit disappointed in how so much was explained in just a couple of chapters near the end of the story. It sort of felt like JK was running out of book so had to get the rest in quickly!"
Matthew, 13, Cheltenham
"It was the darkest yet but JK had just the right balance, adding in funny bits like "Potter watch" when they were needed. The plot was so clever - especially the way everything fitted together from previous books! I was crying my eyes out on the chapter where you think Harry's going to die, I'm so glad he didn't! I also felt so sorry for poor Snape, what a miserable life, he was disliked at school, never got the girl he loved and spent his adult years pretending to be one of Voldemort's supporters and being hated by everyone, before Voldemort finished him off! I was really glad JK brought Dumbledore back in a way, it was nice to know that he too wasn't perfect and made mistakes when he was younger. The ending was great, it was a really good idea to show the characters 19 years on. Overall the book was amazing!"
Emily, 12, Chippenham
"I'm halfway through Chapter 11 and so far it's brill! When I went to my local book shop a few days ago, the shelves that they'd put HP books on were empty! The shop had completely sold out!"
Rachael, 10, Scotland
"I loved every word! I was sooooo sad when Hedwig died and astonished that JK killed off the Muggle Studies teacher in only the first chapter!"
Yasmin, 11, Hackney
"A totally unexpected ending. The epilogue at the end was very good, a nice finishing touch to the hard work of JK."
Francesca, 11, Wolverhampton
"I think it was brilliant when Voldemort died. I'd give it a five star recommendation. I also can't believe Harry and Ginny got married and had kids and that Ron and Hermione got married. This book is full of surprises!"
Noor, 11, London
"Overall JK's last adventure was very good. I think it was right that so many people died because otherwise it wouldn't have been as real. An incredible ending to a phenomenal series. Well done indeed JK. However the last chapter was weak in comparison to the rest of the book."
Josh, 12, London
"I thought that Fred's death was a bit unnecessary but I expected Lupin's. I was totally shocked that Snape was good in the end. I can't believe it's finished. I want JK to write some more."
Nay, 13, Nottingham
"I think this has to be one of the best books I have read in my life. It's sad now the journey is over, I cried a lot - not just with sadness but happiness too. Thank you JK for creating such a magical series of books! You are an amazing writer!"
Camilla, 13, Isle of Wight
"Wow, it really was shocking and an amazing book! What an ending! Who knew Voldemort was going to die? There were so many surprising twists that made me want to leap! Well done JK Rowling - it is clearly a superb book and you deserve everything you get."
Milly, 12, London
"I expected this book to be like all the others - save the world, blah blah blah. But although I guessed pretty good, it was really exciting, clever and emotional. It was much better than the other books in the series. It would have been so much better WITHOUT that cheesy nineteen years later thing but it was still really surprising. I can't believe how many people got killed though. I never knew JK was a mass murderer! Ha!"
Holly, 13, Staffordshire
"I think it is brilliant. I queued up to get it on Friday night and had finished it by Saturday morning, it was impossible to put down. JK Rowling is an amazing writer. I think the film is going to be even better!"
Olivia, 10, Glasgow
"I think that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the best book I have EVER read. I have followed the Harry Potter series since I was seven and absolutely adore them. The last book has a very good ending and ties up all the loose ends, which is important. I think that JK Rowling has done an extremely good job."
Shannon, 13, Leicester
"I thought it was the best! I loved the last chapter - it was sweet and good to know everything turned out OK. But it was a bit short!"
Katie, 12, Oxfordshire
"It was awesome! Just unbelievable! JK - you've done brilliantly! 5 star book! I got it at midnight on Saturday."
Shobiya, 9, Kent
"I queued up for five hours and it's by far the worst Harry Potter book. I'm sorry JK, this book was a flop."
Jack, 12, London
"I'm just on page 125, but so far I think it's brilliant! I got such a fright when George lost an ear. Tonks and Remus got married! Hedwig and Mad-Eye Moody have died! Ginny and Harry snogged! Fleur and Bill get married! Hagrid falls off a broomstick but survives! Wow! So far it's an absolutely tremendous book. GO JK!"
Becky, 11, Dumfries
"I loved the book! I screamed with joy when Voldemort died! And I feel sooo sorry for Snape for some reason. Snape loving Lily doesn't sound right. My prediction was right - I knew he planned the death! I knew Snape was good! And I knew what the cover meant - I knew Harry, Ron and Hermione were in Gringotts searching for a Horcrux. At the end I was so sad because this is the last book! Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows is the best book out of the series! I loved it so much!"
Qabass, 11, Neasden
"Amazing! I'm surprised at how many people died. There were some good twists as well. One of my fave parts was the bit with Harry and Dumbledore. I loved the ending too, I cried when I finished it!"
Beth, 13, Gloucestershire
"I was a bit surprised about who got married to who but Ron and Hermione have always been in love!"
Lydia, 13, Cambridgeshire
"I have to say one thing. I WAS AMAZED BY THE BOOK. It was just so cleverly written! I was so surprised when I found out that Dumbledore had ASKED Snape to kill him, which meant that Snape was on the OOTP's side after all. But I think that the ending was too happy for Harry Potter, I mean, the children and everything. I think Harry should have died. It would have made the end... cooler. It would have been awesome if after Voldy had FINALLY killed Harry for real this time, Neville killed him with the sword of Gryffindor or something. That would have been cooler."
Kate, 11, London
"It was the best book ever! In every chapter there was a moment where I laughed and cried. Overall I think it was MAGICAL! The last chapter was brilliant. I hope JK writes more books telling us more about what happens in the future!"
Niall, 11, Portsmouth
"Thought it was amazing. Only bad point was that there were too many deaths. But it was truly an amazing way to end the series. GO JK ROWLING!"
Emily, 13, Swansea
"This is the best book EVER! It's so well written - JK is a fantastic writer. I finished it in a day. I'm so glad that Ron and Hermione got together, they're such a cute couple!!!"
Una, 13, Ireland
"I loved it. I cried most of the way through. So many people died. There were plenty of times when I thought Harry was done for and I couldn't see a way out for him. When I found out that Harry had named his second child Albus 'Severus' I thought it was touching and it set me off again!"
Vicky, 12, Wigan
"I think that the final book is brilliant - mainly because of all the people who died. Really exciting and tear-jerking. I have to say this is the best of the lot! You rock JK!"
Emily, 10, South Wales
"The best book of the series. I loved the 19 years later chapter. I was surprised at the amount of characters that died! The storyline was really clever, sad but funny and romantic!"
Louise, 13, Leeds
"I thought it was brilliant! There were so many twists and I was really surprised at some of the deaths. I've already read it twice in two days and I'm starting it for a third time!"
Nasim, 12, Washington
"I didn't like the book because I thought it went on a bit and made it boring. I think the end made it easy for other authors to continue writing about Harry and I think this will spoil the Harry Potter magic."
Jasmine, 12, Basingstoke
"The best book of the seven. So good but really sad. Can't believe it's really over! The film is going to be excellent."
Kat, 13, Stroud
"I loved it, although there was one unnecessary Weasley death I'm very upset about! The epilogue was a bit too rushed for me, everything seemed too happy and unrealistic. Also, we never got to see how everyone moved on e.g. Luna or George Weasley."
Georgia, 13, London
"I can't believe so many people died! The most upsetting was probably Lupin and Tonks as it was just after their baby was born. Also Fred's death was sad, because of what it would be like for George."
Devina, 11, Newcastle
"It was definitely the best book out of the series. I just loved it! I always knew Snape would turn out good, I just wouldn't believe he was evil. I read it for the whole night and finished on Saturday morning! I couldn't put it down...
I thought the bit at the end was really clever and his children sound exciting, just like Harry! This was definitely the most exciting, upsetting, happy, romantic, clever book of the series... thank you JK!"
Megan, 13, Edinburgh
"I really loved the book! It's scary, funny, full of adventures and can make you cry! But I'm quite sad because all those people died! Can't wait to read it again!"
Zara, 13, Coventry
"It's BRILL! The best out of all of them. It has lots of horror and gore, but also some happy bits. I cried my eyes out when Fred died! I'm glad Hermione and Ron got married - they deserved to be together. Well done on the best book JK."
Emma, 13, Nottingham
"The ending was shocking. What a let-down! The whole 'nineteen years later' thing was rubbish - it could have had a much more grittily powerful ending."
Hannah, 13, London
"It was amazing. I was so sad when Fred died, he was one of my fave characters! I went to my friend's sleepover and read it all night, but somebody told me what happened at the end because her brother told her. It is obvious that Victoire is Bill and Fleur's daughter!"
Anna, 12, Bath
"Amazing! I absolutely loved the book. Definitely the best one in the series, and very unpredictable. The ending (19 yrs. later) was my favourite part and still makes me cry every time I read it! Couldn't put the book down and finished it the next day!"
Jonathan, 12, Hertford
"OMG! What can I say? JK has written a powerful climax which will surely become one of the most known, talked about classics. JK has done more for literacy than we can imagine: she has got our hearts pounding, our tears flowing, and above all that inspires us. JK you should be proud!"
Tom, 12, Horsham
"It was brill! I couldn't put it down. I really liked the ending - the nineteen years later bit. Funny, exciting, mysterious and romantic! Totally brilliant!"
Lauren, 12, Felixstowe
"I loved it, it's my favourite book in the series and I think the ending was perfect. There was one point where I couldn't stop crying though!"
Ruth, 13, London
"It was BRILL! The best book yet, I couldn't put it down till I finished. The ending was good, but there's still some questions to be answered."
Rachael, 13, Shetland
"I don't think it was too good actually. It seemed to fall back on a lot of clichés and the part about Harry coming back to life was complete rubbish. The ending was like something out of a fanfic. And who the hell is Victoire?"
Gerald, 12, London
"The best book of the series - make that the best book ever written! Even better, I think there's room for a sequel!"
Ellie, 10, Austria
"I loved it! I couldn't believe how many people died. It had me spellbound all the way through. JK Rowling proved how complex and imaginative the wizarding world really is. She made me feel the edge of fear and mystery that Voldemort had injected into wizard hearts. It showed how clever she and her characters are. I loved the edge of secrecy and thought Potterwatch was fantastic! She made us feel the emotion of her characters and her mind! A fantastic, romantic and funny ending to the series. The wizarding world will always be kept alive in Potter fans!"
Sophie, 12, Manchester
"It is BRILL! I got it on Friday midnight and read it that day. I've read the ending over and over again because it has been written so well. I am glad that Snape turned out to be good and that Harry lived, as there were loads of rumours that he would die. Harry's children sounded well cool and I am pleased that Ron and Hermione got together. Oh it was so brilliant!"
Emily, 13, Tiptree
"It was the best book in the series, but the ending (before the epilogue) was a bit complicated. The ending was predictable but still a tear-jerker, it was AMAZING!"
Michael, 13, Kirkcaldy
"I loved it, and all of its twists. However I thought the ending was VERY cliché and JK slightly let herself down."
Simon, 13, Enfield
"I think it's the best book of the lot! It was so exciting and scary! All the people who died! I liked the ending much better than the other endings. I am so sad it's over! When we bought it, my dad and I bought two separate copies because we couldn't wait for the other to finish reading!"
Saskia, 11, Miri
"I haven't finished the book yet, but so far it's really good! I was quite surprised that TWO people died near the beginning of the book though!"
Jolie, 11
"Amazing! I couldn't put it down! It took me five hours to read and I started at 8.30. It was a brilliant way to end the book but the amount of people that died was scary!"
Ailsa, 12, Berwick
"It was fantastic, amazing, though it was a shame that Fred and Hedwig died! The ending was amazing and I can't wait for them to put it into a film!"
Laura, 11, Woking
"*gasp* Lupin and Tonks got married! *double gasp* Tonks got pregnant! *triple gasp* They had a baby called Teddy! *super wail of devastation* TONKS AND REMUS DIED?
Maddy, 13, Barmouth
"I read it in three hours, and when I started reading it while my mum and sisters were shopping for clothes, I didn't even notice them coming back to get me - it was that interesting!"
Mali, 12, Swindon
"It was just outstanding!!!!!! I just couldn't believe how many people died!!!! (sob, sob)."
Sharaniya, 10, Kent
"I haven't read it yet because my sister is hogging the book. Can't wait to read it though!!!"
Rachel, 11, Weymouth
"I loved it! Can't believe it's over. :0( I didn't see all the twists and turns and had no idea about the Deathly Hallows and what they where? WOW"
Claire, 12, Bridlington
"It's not my favourite book, but I love the ending, and I loved the last part. If I was writing the book I would have ended it exactly as JK Rowling has done. Fantastic! I've got to read it again now."
Kathryn, 11, Birmingham
"I don't know because I can't get my copy because my village is cut off from the surrounding towns and bookshops because of the floods :-(!"
Jack, 12, Oxfordshire
"It was so good! It was funny, romantic, scary, sad, gory and so much more! It was absolutely fantastic! Really really funny!"
Katie, 13, Newcastle
"I finished the book yesterday (the day it was out) and it was so good that I couldn't put it down until I finished it! It was EXTREMELY BRILLIANT, though sad in the places where people died."
Mary, 11, Crewe
"A GREAT book!! My favourite of the seven, but I can't believe there is still so much unanswered, with no remaining books!"
Josh, 13, Ipswich
"Loved it! Cried the whole way through! Loads of funny bits! GO JK!"

"BRILL - I read the whole book in half-a-day and JK has done it again - it's FAB. I have got a feeling she MIGHT carry on after a 2yr break or something!!!"
Sophie, 12
"The best Harry Potter book so far. I was so engrossed I sat for four hours reading it without putting it down, I had to get to the end. This book is AWESOME"
Paula, 13, Glasgow
"I have finished the book - but it isn't my favourite. It is very well structured but goes on a bit. It is my third favourite one after HBP and OOTP. Very well thought out though!"
Euan, 12, Lincolnshire
"I finished the book today and I loved it! It was really exciting - but I cried so many times!"
Molly, 12, Halifax

Annie, 12, Birmingham
"I can't believe who dies in it. It's just so unexpected. It's brill."
Zak, 11, Yeovil
"My Mum got it for me in the morning and since then she's practically had to force me to eat! I finished It at quarter to 4 after 6 hours reading! Absolutely brilliant, especially the meaning of the Deathly Hallows and Snape's connection to HARRY!"
Jaza, 11, Sheffield
"It's great and not too long. Shame it's the last one."
Liam, 11, Brighton
"The book was rubbish everyone died in it! Why did she do such a silly thing!"
Amelia, 11, Surrey
"I loved it and couldn't put it down but I did cry. I think JK did a good job. Thank you JK Rowling."
Deborah, 12, Farnborough
"I haven't finished the book yet I got it last night. I've just started chapter 9 and so far it's been a bit boring not much has happened but now it's really starting to get good!"
Connie, 12, Bradford
"WOW!!! The book was even better than I though it would be and I am just extremely sad that the adventure is finally over. But a little message to JK, you've outdone yourself! The last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is by far the greatest one of them all. I hope that every other Harry Potter enjoyed the book as much as I did!"
Muryum, 12, London
"The Book is Brill so far! I got it today (Saturday 21 July) at 2pm. I am not very far. I am up to Chapter 2, page 28! It's the best of them all yet!"

Rachael, 10, Edinburgh

Dot, 12, Bradford
"It's amazing - the best book yet."
Max, 10, Lincoln
"I went to get it at midnight and had finished it by 5. Brilliant, sad, and confusing at times!"

I'm going back to the book shop for the CD and quizzes and stuff now. I won't sleep until late tonight hopefully! It was absolutely worth every minute of it, absolutely amazing. An outstanding book!
