Kids 'making 2008 Olympics goods'

Some stuff promoting the 2008 Beijing Olympics is being made in factories which use child workers, according to a campaign group.

Chinese officials and factory bosses have denied the claims, but the PlayFair Alliance says it found evidence of child labour being used.

It is calling on the Olympics committee to make sure kids are not involved with making hats, bags and other stuff.

"Respect and dignity are part of the Olympic charter," said a spokesman.

Campaigners think it may take some time to get these kind of controls in place, but have high hopes that they will be part of the rules by 2012 - when London hosts the games.

The PlayFair Alliance said that, in the future, it wants child labour controls to be part of the conditions for being allowed to host the sporting spectacular.
