Man creates fuel out of coconuts

Coconut palm

Coconuts can be tasty, but who'd have thought they could ever be used instead of petrol in cars?

A man in the Soloman Islands says he's found a way to do just that.

John Wolrath's made a special fuel from coconut oil, called coco bio-diesel, that's environmentally friendly and cheaper than petrol or diesel.

He came up with the idea to use all the coconuts that are left to rot under palm trees. Now he's hoping more people will start to use it in their cars.

He said: "We could be producing 10,000 litres a day of eco-friendly coco bio-diesel, which is 100% green."
