And the winner is...

10, Downing Street - the Prime Minister's London residence

The winner of both contests must have secured more than 50% of the votes of the electoral college.

This is divided three ways between MPs and MEPs, party members and trade union members.

If nobody has a majority on a first poll, then further votes will be held until there is a clear winner.

The winning candidates are expected to take up their new jobs around June 30, 2007.
