A memorial service to remember those who have died was held on Tuesday night.

President of America, George W Bush, was one of the people there who spoke of the "day of sadness for the nation".

The events

The first shooting took place at about 7.15am on Monday when two people were shot in a dormitory building in the grounds.

The second attack happened two hours later when 31 people died, including the suspected gunman.

It is the worst shooting that anyone in the US can remember.

At least 15 people were injured as they tried to escape, some jumping out of classroom windows.

Pictures of some of the students and teachers who were killed have been shown on television and in newspapers.

Lots of people are angry that the university was not shut down after the first shooting. Students were not warned and many were not aware of the first incident.
