London Zoo gorillas get new home

London Zoo's gorillas have got a new 5m home with an African forest theme.

Effie, Bobby and Zaire will have plenty to do in their huge new enclosure, which features caves, heated rocks and waterfalls, as well as an indoor gym.

Effie is a new arrival the zoo and it's hoped that, in the future, she will have baby gorillas with Bobby.

Visitors to the zoo will be able to see the gorillas at play, and there's a glass panel which the creatures can approach to check out who's watching.

The enclosure is being opened by the Queen's husband, Prince Philip.

He won't be allowed to feed them because they can get a bit put out by strangers.

One keeper explained: "If they see someone they don't like the look of, they tend to get wound up.

"They're amazingly gentle animals but because of their size they can be extremely dangerous.

"When you're working with them you really need to build up a rapport."
