Do you use a booster seat?

Using a booster seat

Press Packer Eli wasn't too happy about having to use a booster seat - until he saw how they protect kids by visiting a test centre as part of a Newsround investigation.

Kids younger than 12 who are less that 135cm tall have to use booster seats under a new law.

Experts say the booster makes sure that seat belts are in the right place if the car is in an accident.

But some kids don't like using them - saying they are babyish or uncool.

What do you think?

I don't have to use a booster seat because I am over the height restriction but my two friends do.
Zoe, 10, Newcastle

I think booster seats are very important and they can be interesting, in nice colours and with pictures on them.
Mohammed, 11, London

I think that booster seats are a good way of safety for little children. Imagine the damage without the booster seats.
Bethan, 12, Newport

I think booster seats are a very safe way of travelling and enable younger people to see where they are going. My little brothers have them and find them quite agitating but I know they're for their own safety.
David, 12, Scotland

Booster seats are great because I get to see where I am going!
Ben, 12, Rainham

Even though I do not use a booster seat because i'm above the height restriction, I think that they are really cool. Loads of my friends use them and you can get them with seriously funky patterns on! They keep you safe in the car and you can see out of the window. So RESPECT for the booster seat!
Georgina, 10, Sutton

I'm lucky cos i'm old enough not to have to go in a booster seat, but my little sister does - she's 10, and she hates it!
Nyala, 10, London

I think it's safer to wear a booster seat and you are more likely to survive in a crash. I'm quite small for my age so I have to wear one.
Emily, 9, West Malling

I think booster seats are a good thing because you are safe and have a great view but most people I know that are small don't use them because they think they are babyish and look stupid....
Aine, 11, Omagh, Northern Ireland

I don't like using booster seats because they are very uncomfortable and I wish I was one of those people that don't need a booster seat - but they do still keep you safe.
Natalie, 10, Newcastle

I'm well over the restriction but my brother and sister are under it, they both have to have one which makes less room in the back of our car for me!
Oliver, 11, Rushden

I think that the booster seats are pointless and that it is just another way to make money.
Shahnaz, 11, Wednesfield

I think having a booster seat is cool, I went to this shop in London and there was a whole shop full of different kinds of booster seats. I chose a pink one the man at the shop recommended it because it was a cool colour and it was the safest. For all you people who don't want a booster seat, your loss!!!
Natasha, 9, Kingston

They are alright but then again I don't need one. My little brother has one and he finds it really uncomfortable because it's plastic.
Helen, 10, Whitley Bay

Booster seats are really important if they're going to save kid's lives, but some of the time they may not.
Edward, 10, London

I think booster seats are a good thing because it keeps children under 12 years of age safe. My two sisters have to use boosters they are called Jamie-leigh and Juliette and are 2 years old and 5 years old.
Shelby, 7, Daltan-in-funness

I live in the USA and we don't have that law but I am still not tall enough so I sit in a booster seat and I know it protects me but I don't like it.
Sadie, 9, USA

Booster seats are for babies I think it is not fair because I am 1m 35cm tall and my friends call me names like baby small.
Kristen, 9, Bonnyrigg

I think that booster seats are babyish and I don't want to have one but because it's the law I have to.
Ellie, 9, Henlow

Yes I love being higher.
Chyna, 8, Harleston

It's against the law not to have a booster seat if you're under the height restriction, so you're meant to use one!!!!
Daniel, 11, Ashstead

No I am eleven and am tall enough not to use one.
Aobh, 11, Ireland

You should use a booster seat if you are little.

We think booster seats are very important but could be made to look more colourful and trendy.
Angus and Cerys, 4 and 7, Woking

I am so glad I turned 12 in August. I hated booster seats when I was little. I know they would save your life but they make you look so uncool!
Amy, 12, Cramilington

I have got to wear a booster seat because I am the smallest in my class!

Laurie, 10, Edinburgh

No I don't use a booster seat and I think it might be annoying for people as old as me being called babies and things like that. I would be really embarrassed!

People who have booster chair's should always put their seat belt on.

Esmerelda, 10, Bradford

I used to need one but I loved it. Now I don't need one but I sit on my brother's when he's not there.
Lauren, 12, Somerset

I don't use them but when I go to a club on Saturdays, I have to share a lift and they make us use booster seats and I don't even need one. I don't find it any advantage.

Luckily I am over 4 foot 5 so I don't need a booster seat.
Laurie, 10, Edinburgh

I do not use a booster seat because I am taller than the height restriction but my sister does and she says it is a good idea because it means she can see out of the window, she's 5.
