Pupils get skates on for lessons

A school in Derbyshire is thought to be the first in the country to put skateboarding on the timetable.

Murray Park Community School in Mickleover has brought the boards in to help get kids active.

Skateboarding started as an after-school activity, but became so popular that now lessons have been started.

Pupils and teachers at the school are now hoping that skateboarding becomes part of PE exams.

'Wheely' good idea

Pupils at the school think the new activity is a 'wheely' good idea. One pupil said: "As far as I know, it's never been done in the country.

"Skateboarding being part of the curriculum now is fantastic."
