Many killed in Iraq bomb attack

Soldiers and policemen patrol the streets of Iraq

Up to 90 people have been killed and more than 150 injured in a double bombing in the town of Hilla in Iraq.

It's thought the blasts were caused by two people who set off two explosives in the middle of a huge crowd.

Most of those who died were Shia Muslims on their way to the Shia holy city of Karbala for a religious event.

It's not clear exactly who was behind the bombs but there has been an increase in violence between Sunni and Shia Muslims over the past year.

Over the last three weeks Iraqi and US forces have been trying to stop violence between the different types of people who live in Iraq. This includes Sunni and Shia Muslims.

Thousands of pilgrims are heading to Karbala to attend the Arbaeen religious ceremony.

It marks the end of 40 days of mourning for Prophet Muhammad's grandson, called Imam Hussein, and it is one of the most important days in the Shia calendar.
