It was a glitzy night, with all the women in posh frocks and the men in tuxedos.

George Miller, who directed Happy Feet, said: "I asked my kids, 'What should I say?' They said, 'Thank all the men for wearing penguin suits.'"

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest took the golden statue for special effects, and An Inconvenient truth, a film about global warming, got the gong for best documentary.
