Dragon is named after Steve Irwin

Baby Komodo dragon

A Newsround competition winner has named a real-life dragon after crocodile hunter Steve Irwin.

Irwin is one of five baby Komodo dragons which were born at Chester Zoo.

The name was suggested by six children and the winner picked at random was 11-year-old Matthew from Nottinghamshire. Well done Matthew!

But your other suggestions were so good, the zoo's decided to use one of them to name another dragon - vote for your fave on the Newsround website.

The names you can choose from are Grendel, Indie, Bakar or Idris.

Winner Matthew will visit the dragons at Chester Zoo later this month when the creatures will get their names for the first time.
