Four NME nominations for Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys could be on track to repeat the success they enjoyed at last year's NME awards.

The nominations for this year's honours have just come out - and the Sheffield band have bagged four.

Last year, they took best new band and best British band at the ceremony after bursting on to the music scene.

But they have big competition, with Muse, Kasabian, The Killers and My Chemical Romance also getting nominated in four categories.

The nominations are a bit of a mixed bag for Lily Allen.

She's up for best solo artist, but she's also in the running for worst album, with It's Alright, Still.

The Horrors, the Fratellis, Klaxons, The Kooks and The View will battle it out for for best new band.

NME is a music magazine and the nominees and winners are chosen by fans.

The ceremony takes place on 1 March.
