BB Shilpa says Jade's not racist

Shilpa Shetty has said that she doesn't think Jade Goody is picking on her because she is Indian.

In a Diary Room chat, the actress has told Big Brother that she doesn't think Jade is being racist towards her.

Earlier, Shilpa had said she thought she was a victim of racist abuse, but she made it clear to producers that she had changed her mind.

At least 30,000 people have complained about the way Shilpa has been treated in Celebrity Big Brother.

On Thursday Jade Goody's mum said that her daughter was not a racist - and was even bullied herself as a child.

Many of the viewers who have complained think that Jade, singer Jo O'Meara and model Danielle Lloyd have made racist comments about Shilpa.

But her mum said: "Jade has never been racist, she is mixed race herself and suffered racist abuse as a youngster."

Racism is treating people badly because of the colour of their skin, where they come from or their religion.

Eviction time

The TV bosses behind Celebrity Big Brother have defended the programme after the complaints, which are the most ever made against a show.

"We cannot with certainty say that the comments directed at Shilpa have been racially motivated," a spokesman said.

But the company that sponsors the Channel 4 programme, Carphone Warehouse, has pulled out of the deal because of the racism row.

Jade and Shilpa are both up for eviction from the house on Friday - and one of them will come out to tell the public their own version of what's been happening.

In India, there have been protests about the way they think Bollywood actress Shilpa is being treated inside the house.

And in the UK, even top politicians have got involved in the row.
