Is Bindi right to be launching a TV career?

Bindi at her dad's memorial service

Bindi Irwin has said she wants to be just like her dad Steve Irwin, who died tragically filming with a stingray.

The nine-year-old was on an American chat show promoting her own show which is called Bindi, the Jungle Girl.

But what do you think about her doing more filming so soon after her dad's death in September?

Do you think she should take more time off to get over her dad's sudden death and do you think it's a good idea for her to carry on doing what her dad did?

And is it OK for her to launch a TV career while she's still so young?

Unfortunately this topic is now closed but there are Comments pages on other subjects on the main Chat index.

I think that if she's passionate about doing it then it's fine but I don't think she should be under pressure to do so.
Jemima, 11, Newquay

I think she has the coolest job ever, just like her Dad did. Who wouldn't want to do it?
Max, 9, Bedford

I think it's brave of him moving to another team so far away so quickly.
Sarah, 11, Edinburgh

I think its great for a girl of such a young age to be so ambitious and determined to be like her dad! And she'll probably be more careful cos her dad died while filming.
Ella, 13, London

I think that she deserves this more than ever cos if she does this then she will feel that she is making her father proud and that will make her happy. Her and her family deserve to be happy.
Zara, 13, Hertfordshire

Maybe she thinks it's what her dad would want, I mean we are talking about the crocodile hunter! It also shows she has Steve's spirit!
Chelsea, 11, Southampton

She has the courage of a Lion if you ask me!! I would love to see this show and I hope it's a big success for her and her mum Terri aswell, they deserve it!!!
Shauna, 12, Abbeyfeale

I think she shouldn't be allowed to do it yet. She should wait until she has come to terms with the death of her father. If my dad died I would want to be just like him, but its too soon for her and she is to young.
Blake, 9, Gwent

I think it's great that someone so young is doing something great. She is following her dad's footsteps and I am sure he would be proud.
Rabia, 13, Dubai

It's up to Bindi what she does. She wants to be like her dad, so this is a good thing for her to do.
Rosie, 11, Reading

It is good that Bindi wants too be like her Dad but it might be better for her and her Mum if she helps with another wildlife program until she is a bit older.
Jesse, 9, Edinburgh

Just because her dad died in a freak accident, it doesn't mean Bindi will die in a freak accident as well. As she is very young, i'm sure she will have a lot of protection filming, as many will keep in mind her dads tragic death.
Deborah, 13, Singapore

Bindi is a great kid and is very talented. But isn't she a bit young?
Amelia, 12, Salisbury

I think it's great for Bindi to be carrying on with her dad's show, it shows that she wants her dad to be proud of her. it also shows she looks up to her dad. I think she's doing great!
Ruby, 12, Somerset

Bindi has a point so she can be like her dad, but I also think that she should wait a few years, until her mum gets over her dad's death! After that she would be old enough to make a TV show
Zahra, 10, London

I think it's sweet that she wants to be just like her dad! I mean for some one to say I want to be just like you, the person must be special.
Marriam, 10, Leicester

I think she should do what she wants to do in her life especially if one of her folks have died.
Phoebe, 10, Leeds

Bindi did a great job. She shouldn't be forced to give up her job because she wants to be like her famous Dad Steve Irwin!
Naomi, 11, New Zealand

I think she should be settling down after her dad's death! I would be! Also, she must have practiced lots to make a speech sound like that in front of million's of people!!!!
Juliet, 9, Melton Mowbray

Bindi you are a brave girl. Your dad would be proud of you.
Talisha, 7, Stoke-on-Trent

I think Bindi is brave to get over him so fast and yes I do think she should carry on like a trooper!!!
Megan, 11, Leeds

No , I don't think she should be launching a TV career . It's is too early after her Dad's death and people will only watch in sympathy. I'm sure Mr Irwin wouldn't want to put his children in danger.
Aoife, 12, Ballina, Ireland

I think she should not b launching a career coz she is too young and she shouldn't be taken out of school!
Isabelle, 11, High Wycombe

I think she should. She's a very brave girl with what's she's gone through and it would be a great loss if no one carried on her dad's work. BINDI YOU ROCK!!!
Bradley, 12, Nottingham

I think if launching a TV career is what Bindi wants to do then she should do it. If she wants to be like her dad then I don't see what is wrong with it.
Sophie, 11, London

I think Bindi has every right because all she wants is her dad to be proud of her.
Caitlin, 11, Saltcoats

Of course, she has a perfect right to and her dad will be proud!
Meriel, eight, Nottingham

I think that is great that she wants to work with animals
Isla, nine, Forres

Filming a tv series will give her something to keep her ocupied and feel close to her dad while she still feels she is making him proud. As long as there are always people suporting her she will be fine.
Amy, 13, Hull

She has always said that it was her dream to follow her dad's quest for world conservation. If that's what she wants to do then people should just let her without hassling her.
Summer, 10, Wolverhampton

I think Bindi is doing the right thing by carrying on from her dad. Well-done Bindi!
Jessica, 13, Surrey

I think that the way she will get over her dad's death will be by doing something he loved and that she will love as well. If she does this then Steve Irwin can always be remebered through his daughter.
Sophie, 11, Burton

I think it is wrong in case she gets hurt or killed as well.
Mark, 12, Colchester

Of course! Her mum is supporting her all the way, as well as her brother, and Steve Irwin would be proud. Even though I think this, she probably wouldn't have done it so soon if her dad wasn't dead - she has lots to learn and, in time, could have learnt it from him.
Ellie, 11, Mirfield

I think Bindi can launch her TV career if it is really what she wants.
Sam, 12, London

Maybe she'll get over her father's death when she starts a tv career, but she's only nine. I mean, this sounds a bit like her mother is pushing her this way and all the producers too. If the same happens to her like it did to her father...She's too young to be doing this!
Rosanne, 14, Amsterdam

Whatever she wants I think she should get! After the loss of her Dad I think this might make her feel better by doing something her dad used to do!
Hafsa, 13, Ilford

I do not think it is appropriate. She is being thrown into all this fame and she has probably not grieved for her dad properly and she can't really make her own decisions.
Emma, 13, Kent

I dont think it's right that Bindi should have to go into all the fame if she doesn't want to. I think that they should leave the family for at least a little while until they say that they are ok.
Andrea, 15, Snodland

She is a great performer and she should do what she wants.
Matt, 13, Princes Risborough

I think that Bindi is too young to launch a career when she is still young, even though she wants to follow her Dad's footsteps she should wait until she is older to launch a career.
Lucy, 11, Cavan

Maybe Bindi can get over the death of her dad quicker by keeping busy doing this TV stuff.
Alice, 9, Royston
