Special boots for big-footed boy

Carl Griffiths

A teen who had to quit playing rugby because his feet were too big has been able to get back on the pitch after getting special boots from the US.

Carl Griffiths' feet grew to size 18 while he was taking medication for leukaemia, and as he couldn't get boots to fit him, he had to stop playing.

But well-wishers helped out Carl, 14, by getting him big boots from America.

And after getting the all-clear from doctors, Carl is playing for the Trimsaran under-15 team once more.

The 6ft 4in tall teen said: "I'm just glad to be out there again. I'm chuffed.

"It was frustrating because I couldn't play with all my friends on the pitch," said Carl, whose team faced Ystradgynlais on Sunday.
