Press Packer Alex went on a camp to celebrate 100 years of the Scouts
"In May, Beavers,
Cubs and Scouts around Britain
went on a camp with other
troops in their district.
There was a lot of excitement
on the first day and everyone
was happy.
Day of play
The first
activities started and those
at Hallowtree in Ipswich included cooking,
abseiling and rock climbing -
but the best was yet to come.
On Saturday, many troops of
Scouts started many
activities.
At the same time,
Cubs and Beavers enjoyed an
outdoor day of play.
Activities went on for the
whole day and, at the end, the
Beavers went home.
Fireworks
The Cubs
and Scouts then had an It's A
Knockout competition.
Afterwards, all around Britain
Scouting campsites lit beacons
to mark 100 years of The
Scouting Association.
To end
the day, there was a campfire
with fireworks.
All the Cubs,
Scouts and leaders
joined in with songs led
by the District Commissioner.
Flooding
Although there was rain all
through the night, it didn't
dampen any spirits.
In true
Scouting fashion everyone got
on with it, until Sunday,
which was the Cubs and Scouts
last day.
The continuous
rain caused flooding, which
was too much for everyone!"
