Concert Review: Kylie

The event

Kylie @ Wembley Arena - The Showgirl Homecoming tour

The songs

Miss Minogue sang a set of songs which included something from every stage of her chart-topping career.

Her 1980s hit, The Loco-Motion, was given a jazzy makeover while more modern hits like Love At First Sight and I Believe In You turned the arena into one big dancefloor. She also sang a new song called White Diamond which was written by the Scissor Sisters.

The best bit

Kylie's dancers dressed as Doctor Who's Cybermen and Cyberwomen for a crowd-pleasing performance of the huge hit, Can't Get You Out Of My Head.

Another highlight was Kylie sitting on a sparkling crescent moon, high above the stage, singing a beautiful version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

The atmosphere
Kylie did 20 gigs in Australia before coming to the UK
A new Kylie album is planned later this year
Kylie's last 12 hits have all made the top 10 of the charts

The crowd were really pleased to see Kylie back on stage after being away for 18 months while she got better from cancer.

Kylie's moments while she talked to the crowd were very special - she even asked her crew to shine the lights on a girl high up in the audience who had come dressed as Kylie the Showgirl!

The style

Kylie is one of the most fashionable women in the world and her eight costumes included orange and white feathers, a red sparkly party dress and a gold outfit with a scary, blonde punk wig.

Her amazing dancers had also raided the dressing up box and looked great doing all their energetic moves.

The summary

Kylie has decided to slow things down a bit while she recovers from her illness - but this made the concert even better as her dance moves were much more delicate.

The range of songs, excellent dancers, stage lighting and Kylie's love of performing all combined to make the perfect comeback.

NR rating:

Five out of five
