In pictures: School kids get their own golf course

Press Packer Eloise

Press Packer Eloise, 10, isn't a big fan of traditional playground games but loves playing golf. So imagine how happy she was when her school opened its own golf course.

The golf course

Freeground School in Southampton had loads of spare land, so staff and pupils decided to build a nine-hole golf course that could be used during PE lessons AND break times.

Volunteers helping to build the course

All the pupils entered a competition to design the course as part of their numeracy lessons. Then it was time to call on their mums and dads to give them a hand to build it.

Mayor of Eastleigh cutting the red ribbon to open the golf course

The course was finished really quickly and even had it's own grand opening with the Mayor of Eastleigh getting the honour of cutting the red ribbon.

Eloise said being able to play golf at school was a dream come true. You can read her Press Pack report by clicking on the link on the right-hand side of this page.
