UK gamers get ready for Wii

Boxes of Wiis

Kids and adults alike are gearing up for the UK release of the next console to hit the shelves, the Nintendo Wii.

People started queuing to bag a Wii on Thursday afternoon, even though they don't go on sale till midnight

The Wii broke a sales record before it even came out here, as one online store had all their stock pre-ordered in just seven minutes!

It's the second next generation console to come out. The Xbox 360 was released last year, and the PS3 is out in March.

Nintendo hope their machine will prove really popular with families.

Instead of making really flashy games, they focussed on increasing the fun.

They have a special controller which picks up your movements, allowing you to really get inside the game.
