TV search to find new Joseph

Presenter Philip Schofield playing Joseph

Hot on the heels of Maria, TV viewers will get to choose the lead for a new stage version of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The programme, called Any Dream Will Do, will search for a Joseph for the London stage production, just like it did with Maria in the Sound of Music.

The show is also looking for a woman to play the narrator, a Pharaoh/Elvis and a school choir to sing in the show.

The winners will be decided by musical experts and TV viewers.

Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a musical version of a story from the Bible.

It tells the tale of Joseph, his 11 brothers and coat of many colours. Famous people who have played the part in the past include Jason Donovan and Philip Schofield.

Sound of Music star Connie Fisher
The last BBC One musical talent show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? was won by an unknown singer called Connie Fisher.

The show opened at The London Palladium in November.
