Blaine spins into new crazy stunt

Magician David Blaine

Magician David Blaine has begun another one of his wacky stunts, spinning high above New York in a hi-tech gadget.

He was lifted 15 metres into the air inside something called a gyroscope and will be there for almost three days.

A gyroscope is made up of three steel rings which spin round and will flip Blaine in different directions as many as eight times every single minute.

On Thursday his hands will be locked into metal shackles and he will have 16 hours to escape them.

Before a crane lifted him above the city Blaine said: "This is more difficult than anything I've ever done."

Blaine's crazy stunts
David Blaine's stunts
Balancing on top of a 30m (100 ft) pole
Spending 61 hours inside a block of ice
Living in a plastic box for 44 days above the River Thames
Spending a week inside a globe filled with water

He won't be able to eat or drink anything while he is hanging in the air, and it's going to really, really cold in New York as well.

After he is taken down from the gyroscope Blaine will take 100 kids without much money on a shopping spree with the charity The Salvation Army.

Blaine said the stunt was important to him since The Salvation Army had provided him with clothing when he was a child.
