Kids not staying safe on the web

Girls online

Lots of kids are putting themselves in danger on the web, as it's been found three in four kids have given personal details out to a stranger online.

Lots of kids have handed over things like pictures, phone numbers and email addresses, which is very risky.

It's easy for people to pretend to be someone else online, as you can't see who you're really chatting to.

You should never give out personal information on the web without checking with your parents first.

The study also found fewer than one in three parents check up on what their kids get up to online.

The people behind the study say chat rooms are where most kids meet strangers and give out details.

And nearly half the kids who chatted to strangers said it was the other person who started chatting to them.
