I'm in favour of school uniforms

Pupils in school uniform

Press Packer Helen explains why she thinks wearing a school uniform is a good thing.

"Should kids have to wear uniforms at school?

It's a question that I often discuss with my friends, and I believe we should.

All equal

My uniform makes me part of my school and I feel proud to wear it.

It may be brown and yellow, but because everyone at school is wearing the same thing, it makes us all equal.

We can't be judged by the kind of clothes we have on.

Picked on

Lots of people don't like the colour.

But I think that if we all wore our own clothes there would be more bullying because some people might be picked on for what they wear.

Own style

Some of my friends argue that us all wearing the same thing makes us clones and stops us being individuals.

But I believe we can still show our own style through coats, bags and even hair accessories.

It's not as if we have to wear it all the time anyway.

So what's the big problem?

I give school uniforms a big thumbs up!"

Helen, Kent
