'Seven in 10' pupils are bullied

Seven out of 10 children are being bullied at school, a survey has found.

Loads of kids who took part in research said being called names was the worst problem, with lots of them saying they were bullied because of their looks.

About half of children questioned said they had been hit or hurt by bullies at school and one in 20 said they had been bullied by emails or text messages.

The survey, by the anti-bullying website Bullying Online, spoke to nearly 2,036 children aged 5-12.

It also questioned 323 teachers and found only four out of 10 thought they knew how to deal with bullying.

Most of them said they thought they needed more training to help fight the problem.

The study was part of a wider survey were a total of 4772 children were questioned including older children.
