Drip painting is priciest ever

Pollock's nickname was "Jack the Dripper".

It might look like something painted by an angry toddler, but a picture by artist Jackson Pollock has become the most expensive painting ever.

The work, called No 5, 1948, was sold for $140m (£73m) to a Mexican millionaire called David Martinez.

The picture, which is two and a half metres tall, was created by dripping paint onto canvass.

It beat the previous record of $135m (£71m) paid in June for a 1907 portrait by Austrian artist Gustav Klimt.
