Legendary Formula One driver Michael Schumacher brings the curtain down on his career at the Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday, after 15 years in the driving seat.

Here we look back at Schumacher's amazing career.

1969

Born in Kerpen, Germany on 3 January

1987

Leaves school and becomes German and European kart champion

1990

Wins the German Formula Three championship and is hired by Mercedes to drive sports cars.

1991

Formula One debut, qualifying an astonishing seventh in a Jordan for the Belgian Grand Prix. He is snapped up by Benetton.

1992

Wins his first Formula One race, again at Belgian Grand Prix at Spa

1994

Wins Grand Prix Championship for the first time

1995

Wins the Grand Prix again, and marries his wife Corinna. He also joins the Ferrari racing team

1997

Daughter Gina Maria is born

1998

Finishes second over-all in the Grand Prix Championship

1999

Breaks his leg in a crash at the Silverstone Grand Prix. His son Mick is also born.

2000

Becomes Ferrari's first Formula One champion for 21 years

2001

Wins the championship again

2002

Wins again - this year he wins 11 of the 17 races

2003

Another Formula One title win for Schumi

2004

He wins 13 of the 18 races and takes the title for the seventh time by a massive margin

2006

Announces his retirement from the sport. He races his last Grand Prix in Brazil
