Millions of book fans around the world may be both delighted and disappointed as Friday 13 October is the end for A Series of Unfortunate Events.
The 13th and final book in the Lemony Snicket series went on sale at 3pm on a day that many people think is unlucky.
But will the book, called The End, be unlucky for the Baudelaire orphans as they try to escape the evil Count Olaf?
Even book reviewers didn't know how the story ends as the last two chapters of their early copies were removed.
Since the first book called the Bad Beginning was published in 1999 more than 51m copies of the series have been sold around the world.
Earlier in the year Newsround tracked down the secretive Lemony Snicket and he talked about writing the final book.
"I'm sad, but also relieved for the general populace. It's as if a disease is running its course and you begin to see it fading," he said.
And he admitted there could be more stories to come, although not about the Baudelaires: "There's a chance some other matters may take up my attention, that I may research and publish, but I'm always weary of making such promises."
