No nerves for Maria show winner

Sound of Music star Connie Fisher

The singer who won a TV talent show to bag the leading role in a new musical has been speaking about her success.

Connie Fisher, 23, said she wasn't nervous about taking on the part of nun Maria in The Sound of Music.

Connie - who won BBC1's How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? - said: "I believe every musical star has their show and I do believe this is my show."

There are seven parts for kids in the musical, and they will played by 20 different children.

There will be eight performances of the Sound of Music each week, and at the moment Connie is planning to appear in all of them!

Speaking of the people who supported her, she said: "I want them to come to the theatre to see the person they voted in ... I'm sure most people who voted want to see 'that girl on the telly'."

The Sound of Music opens at The London Palladium on November 15.
