Babies get more quirky names

Newborn baby crying.

Babies are being named after TV, book and film characters, including Luna, Spike and Mylo!

A survey says mums and dads seem to be getting more inventive with their newborns' names.

Bronte, Kiki and Kofi are among the more quirky names of the 700,000 babies born in the past year.

But traditional names are still most popular, with Jack the top boys' name for the 11th year running, followed by Thomas, James and Daniel.

The name of the outgoing UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, may have been behind the 14 boys given his first name.
