Mickey the bird gets metal beak

Metal Mickey

A bird has been given a metal beak by zoo keepers after he broke his old one.

Mickey, an exotic bird from Africa, was having problems because his old beak was breaking up.

So vets at Birdland in Gloucestershire attached the steel replacement using six tiny bolts, and Mickey, a Southern Ground Hornbill, is now doing well.

Birdland manager Simon Blackwell said the steel beak wasn't too heavy, and that Mickey's new attachment had earned him a new name - Metal Mickey!
