Anger as Robbie gig shuts schools

Robbie Williams

Parents are angry as some schools have been shut because of a big Robbie Williams concert on Friday.

Head teachers at 11 schools in Leeds decided the 90,000 fans - and lots of traffic - going to the gig could put pupils in danger.

But some parents think closing schools just for a pop concert is a bad idea, as it harms their kids' education.

Five schools and learning centres are closing all day on Friday, and six more are shutting early.

The people in charge of education in Leeds said they decided to close the schools because children might not be able to travel home in safety or that their journey might take a very long time.

However, some parents say they were only told about the decision on Thursday.

Robbie is playing two shows in Roundhay Park, one on Friday night and one on Saturday.
