Man blows up bridge he hates

The bridge being blown up

What do you hate about your day? Daniel Ruefly from the US hated driving over the Woodrow Wilson bridge to work every day so he blew it up!

No, he hadn't flipped, he'd won a competition to push the detonator button, as the bridge was demolished to make way for a new one.

The bridge in Washington regularly caused hold-ups in Mr Ruefly's journey to and from work, so he was very happy.

He said he was very honoured to send it up in smoke.

He had more reason than most to dislike the bridge, as it nearly killed him!

An ambulance taking him to hospital after a car crash got stuck in traffic by the bridge, and he nearly didn't get to hospital in time.

But despite that, he insists he doesn't hold a grudge against the bridge - easy to say now it's just a pile of smoking rubble!
