My village is falling into the sea

Hayley
Press Packer Hayley lives on the coast and cliff erosion is causing her village to slowly fall into the sea.

In her report she tells us how the erosion is affecting her and why she's raising money to save her village.

"The sea's eating away at the cliff and eroding it - the edge of the cliff is coming closer and closer to my village.

It's worse in the winter when the waves are bigger and rougher. If there's a storm or rough sea, the shape of the cliff is really different the next day.

Staying safe

When you're walking by the sea you have to stay on the lookout. It's really important to stay away from the cliff edge.

I walk my dog along the cliff and I have to be really careful.

At the cliff edge

It's pretty quiet here and I think that's because of the erosion.

The village café's been closed down because the cliff reached the edge of its garden.

My house is quite far away from the sea but my friend's house is really near the cliff edge now.

Supporting my village

I've been raising money for the Coastal Concern Action Group which is hoping to build defences to stop the erosion.

My friend and I have been doing odd jobs like cleaning and gardening to raise money. So far we've raised over £100!

I'm interested in raising money to stop the erosion because it's near me and it's affecting me.

Happisburgh is a nice place to be. I know a lot of people around here and it's a good place to live. We need to do something about the cliff."
