The largest-ever exhibition of the Queen's evening dresses and jewellery has gone on display at Buckingham Palace
The dazzling exhibition is to celebrate the Queen's 80th birthday and features 80 of her favourite frocks
Here, a lady looks at two gowns worn by the Queen to private and official occasions during 1971 and 1969.
These dresses are a colourful selection of greens and blues - colours the Queen is often seen wearing
The gown in the centre is from 1972. It is embroidered with pearl, sequin and diamante and the Queen had to be persuaded to wear it because she thought it would be too heavy!
The collection is the largest ever exhibition of the Queen's gowns
It also includes private gifts and favourite pieces of jewellery such as tiaras, necklaces and brooches
