Teenager fights crime with mobile

Victoria in action
The latest weapon in the fight against crime is the mobile phone - if one girl's actions are anything to go by.

Fifteen-year-old Victoria Parsons reached for her mobile when she suspected someone was trying to get into her Bristol home.

She filmed the intruder before plucking up the courage to confront him. He ran off and she alerted her family.

A 14-year-old boy had been charged with burglary. Police praised Victoria, but warned people not to get into danger.

A police spokesman said: "It was very quick-thinking to film the offender on her phone.

"However, we would advise anyone to put their own safety before doing anything that could put themselves in danger."

Victoria explained: "My first thought was to get my mum and dad but I was worried about making any noise," said the schoolgirl.

"My phone was fully charged and outside it was daylight so I could get a good video."

Her proud dad said: "Victoria has been really brave, she's been absolutely fantastic."
