World champion Spanish driver Fernando Alonso has won the Monaco Grand Prix for the first time.
The Renault driver now has a 21-point lead over rival Michael Schumacher, whose Ferrari finished fifth.
Schumacher lost pole position after being accused of deliberately stopping on the track to prevent his rivals from setting a faster time.
McLaren's Juan Pablo Montoya finished second and Red Bull's David Coulthard took third place.
Speaking of his win Fernando Alonso said: "At Monaco you really have to keep your concentration and push to the limit all the time.
"It's a race that I put a cross against on my calendar at the start of the year, so now I have it.
"It's great for team, the Michelin and me."
