Angola 1-1 Iran: Wednesday 21 June

Even though some people, including the media, are saying that our team did well, I still feel that we could have done better if the coach had made better substitutions!

The funny thing is that against Portugal we hoped to draw, against Mexico we hoped to lose by one or two at the most, and against Iran we hoped to WIN.

But in Angola, people are still happy that the team was part of 2006 World Cup.

Deep in my heart, I hoped Angola would pass to the next phase. We'll just have to try to work harder for the next season!

I am sorry the Angola team are now out of the World Cup but I wish all the best to Brazil, Ghana and Portugal.

Angola 0-0 Mexico: Friday 16 June

It was a mixture of anxiety and hope, but deep inside, we believed that we would loose against Mexico, as this team is seen by most Angolans as one of the candidates to win the World Cup.

So, at the end we are more than happy with the result. Thank GOD it's all over!

We are happy and we are partying, but the battle has not ended yet. We still have to meet Iran and they are very good as well.

Now that we are starting to play like a real World Cup team it is a general opinion among my friends that mother nature and father luck should allow us to pass to the next phase.

Viva Angola and viva Iran, but hey, viva Angola much more!

Angola 0-1 Portugal: Sunday 11 June

I watched the game with my friends and relatives in a giant tent, which the National Radio of Angola put up near of my house.

The atmosphere was great before the game started. However, the first goal that escaped in the first seconds began to spoil the party.

We were all very tense and we thought our hopes were finished completely. I heard some adults saying that we would lose by six or seven goals to nil!

But soon our team started taking chances and our hope returned to us. Our players managed to show the world that at least Portugal is not so much better than us!

Tournament preview

What's the atmosphere like in Angola?

It is very emotional to have Angola in the World Cup finals! The World Cup will be a great battle for Angola, especially the match against Portugal since they have great players like Figo, Deco and Cristiano Ronaldo. In Angola we will all feel very happy because Portugal is one of the best teams in Europe! I think it will be a draw when we play them.

I think the final will be between Brazil and Germany, because Brazil is the best team in world football and it has good players. Germany, as the host country, will have more support from the public, so it seems to me to be one of the candidates for the title.

I am a bit worried about our team's defence and midfield but I think Akwa is the best Angolan player. I will be wearing my team's colours because in Angola we will show the spirit of patriotism and support our country!

I am already nervous and very anxious and hope that Angola will have a victory!
