In the first half the Iranian team played very well. The players had a well co-ordinated attack-plan which resulted in many sudden rushes on the Mexican goal.
If we could have scored earlier the result would have been completely different, because the momentum would have changed in favor of the Iranian team.
In the second half, the Iranian strategy changed drastically and Mexico seized upon the lacklustre performance. There was an inexperienced goalie and a wobbly defensive line. There was miscommunication between midfielders and a not-so-settled offensive line.
Mexico grabbed their chance and destroyed Iran.

What's the atmosphere like in Iran?
The atmosphere in my country is getting very tense as we get nearer to the World Cup and everyone is getting ready to celebrate victories! You can feel a sense of jubilation and exhilaration from people from every walk of life.
Everyone is very optimistic that we will beat our opponents and that Iran will go through to the second round!
