Age: 13

Favourite teams: Costa Rican and Deportivo Saprissa (Costa Rican first division)

Favourite player: Walter Centeno (Costa Rica)

Costa Rica 1-0 Poland: Tuesday, 20 June

Poland had lots of opportunities with the ball, but Costa Rica had more to prove, so the players were trying hard to score a goal.

15 minutes into the first half we had a power cut, so we didn't manage to watch the rest of the first half!

However, when the electricity came back on, we saw that the score was 1-1, with a goal by Gomez for Costa Rica and by Bosaki for Poland. The second Polish goal was a header and it was to be the final goal of the match.

There were a few disagreements with the referee, as he blew his whistle for supposed fouls that we disagreed with.

So, this match ended Costa Rica's participation in the World Cup. Despite the efforts of the lads on the team, we couldn't qualify for the second round.

We hope to take part in the next World Cup and make even more effort to achieve great success for Costa Rica.

Costa Rica 0-3 Ecuador: Thursday, 15 June

Ecuador played really well in the first half, and after eight minutes Carlos Tenorio scored the first goal.

We were so tense! Costa Rica made three shots at goal, two by Centeno and one by Chope. They had more opportunities but they didn't manage to score.

I was enjoying the match with my family and friends, but we couldn't agree on what we thought the final result would be! Most of us thought it would be 2-1 to us.

In the second half, Costa Rica made a change: Carlos Hernández for Leonardo González. Mauricio Solís came close to scoring the first goal for Costa Rica.

Ecuador scored their second goal thanks to Delgado. They fouled us but the referee didn't blow his whistle. Carlos Hernández almost scored a goal for us.

Ecuador played really well.

Costa Rica 2-4 Germany: Friday, 9 June

My mum, brothers, sisters and I were all ready very early, sitting in front of the television, waiting for the match to start. We got so excited at the start when we saw the players come out onto the pitch and again when they sang the Costa Rican National anthem.

Germany scored the first goal very quickly but, despite that, we managed to catch up not long afterwards. Unfortunately, we finished the first half with Germany 2-1 up. It was a very exciting first half, but the Costa Rican team had to improve and be more focussed because the German players were very fast.

In the second half Costa Rica played better and we weren't as worried because we knew our opponents better. We hope to carry on like this for the upcoming matches. The match ended 4-2 to Germany but I hope that Costa Rica can make up for it in the games ahead.

Tournament preview

What's the atmosphere like in Costa Rica?

For me, Costa Rica is a very beautiful country and it's also a country of peace and quiet. I think Costa Rica will have very good results in the World Cup, as we have quality players. Moreover, it's my country, which I love and support. I am very happy that my country will participate in the World Cup against very powerful teams such as Germany, Poland and Ecuador.

I'm going to watch the games at home, with my brothers, sisters, friends and my mother. We are all very anxious and looking forward to the beginning of the World Cup - we'll be shouting at the goals and good passes of our national team! I think that Costa Rica is going to go far if it really wants to. Our players are well prepared and I think that they are going to be successful!
