Wigan kept alive hopes of a place in Europe after beating Aston Villa 3-2 at home at the JJB Stadium on Tuesday.
Wigan's Jimmy Bullard opened scoring with an impressive volley 25 minutes into the game, and Juan Pablo Angel equalised on 53 minutes.
But two goals from Henri Camara within five minutes put Wigan ahead again. A goal from Liam Ridgewell gave Villa hope but Wigan held on to win.
Wigan's first win at home since Boxing Day puts them eighth in the table.
Wigan were promoted into the Premiership last year, and have won 51 points so far.
After the match manager Paul Jewel said he was proud of his team: "That is a wonderful achievement for us because I never thought back in August [that] we would take 50 points. We were looking at a 40-point target."
